I need book recommendations for 10yo & 12yo ds.

Recommended Posts

They used to love Famous Five books, then they went through the Hardy Boys phase, now they're kind of past that. They've read all the Alex Rider books and all the Narnia series several times. We're very conservative in our book choices so no dragon fanasty books please. Any other suggestions? Thanks.

They've already read Old Yeller and the 10yo is reading Henry Reed right now. We've read quite a few Newbery books, but I'm going to try to google to find a list of all of them. And I'll check out the other books mentioned. Thanks for all the great suggestions. Keep them coming.

Have they read the My Side of the Mountain or Hatchet series? Those are great outdoorsy books. When I was that age I loved The Light in the Forest. I can't remember much about it now, but my oldest ds loved it at the same age. Where the Red Fern Grows and Summer of the Monkeys are two great books by Wilson Rawls. Across Five Aprils by Irene Hunt is another both oldest ds and I enjoyed.
