Plucky
And where do you get it? Is it homeschool parent friendly? Thanks.
H.S. Burrow
We are using Campbell's Biology: Concepts and Connections. I ordered it from Pearson. I did not order the Teacher's Manual or the Lab Manual because DH (sciencey) does not think that we'll need it. As for disections, we'll do virtual for a lot of them. We start next week. If I feel that *I* need the Teacher's Manual, then I'll order it. The textbook has all the answers to the chapter review questions in the back. I did order the test bank to create my own tests. HTH! Plucky
My son really wants to disect and we ordered the Apologia Biology disection kit already. Do you think we could use it with Campbells? Disection is disection isn't it? Heh, maybe I need the teacher's guide.
Plucky
How do you order the TM and tests? I don't see that as an option. Pearson is a bear to navigate.
Kim in Appalachia
It is not as friendly as Apologia (mostly because of the labs). But it is a solid and doable course.

I didn't bookmark it, so it took me a while to find it. Here is the link to the 6th edition which is what I purchased. Click on the resources tab and you will see all the options available. From here, you can get the ISBN for what you want to purchase. I ordered the student book and study guide from Amazon. http://www.pearsonhighered.com/educator/academic/product/0,3110,0321489845,00.html Go here if you have an oasis account and you can search for what you want by ISBN and purchase it here. If you don't have an Oasis account, you will need to create one to order the Teacher's Manual. https://oasis.pearson.com/ordering/oaLogin.aspx I hope this helps with the navigation!:)

QueenCat
We're using Thinkwell Biology. For labs, we're using Castle Heights. DS absolutely loves this combination as he is a visual learner.
Jan P.
I'm using Abeka's biology course this year simply because I got the TM and student book for $2.00!! I think the lab manual I got was for 50 cents. It was written in, but I can have dd do her work on notebook paper or type up the lab and hand it to her. I'm sure this book isn't as rigorous as the other textbooks mentioned, but it is a good, solid program. I like the fact that the book takes a whole to parts type of approach. This will do well with my global thinking dd. HTH,
oakmom
Are the Castle Heights lab books written from a Christian perspective?
QueenCat
As to Castle Heights. There are a few scriptures in there but not much. They are strictly labs and do not address in any way shape or form creation or evolution. They just tell you what to do for the labs. For an example and table of contents, go to http://groups.google.com/group/homeschool-science .
sleepy
We'll be using Prentice Hall's Exploring Life for 9th grade biology this year.
oakmom
Thanks! These might work for us. :001_smile: As to Castle Heights. There are a few scriptures in there but not much. Farmgirl70
It is a research based program and looks very interesting to our family. The student is given a sheet of questions to research each week and can use textbooks, the library, the internet to discover the questions. The information covered seems very thorough and it has a lab guide that goes with it, but I am sure you could also use the apologia labs with it. You can order it from http://www.scienceforhighschool.com and also see sample pages there. I am really excited about this, because I hadn't found a biology course that really thrilled me and this seems right up our alley.
