DawnM
I used to love going to Curves every morning, but our local Curves shut down. I also used to like going to exercise classes at the gym. There is something about everyone working out together that motivates me. The nearest gym with classes (and they have beginner classes which I would need at this point), is 8 miles away. It is accessible through street roads with lots of lights, so the commute time would be about 20 min. each way. Would you do this? 40 min. r/t seems counter-productive, but it might be helpful to finally getting me back in shape. I can't decide! Spryte
If you are the type of person who is most motivated by a class, or a group of people - I would do it. The trade off of the commute time is worth the benefit of health!
Hikin' Mama
I would say yes. It only takes me 20 min. round trip to go to my gym, but I try to treat it like an appointment that I need to keep each day. I don't do a class, other than yoga, but I'm still much more motivated to work out at the gym than at home. I really don't know why. 😄
KungFuPanda
I don't exercise without witnesses. If I go to the gym alone I spend more time in the hot tub than on the machines. This is part of the reason I'm in classes 8 hours a week. Can you find a local group for walking or a boot camp-type class?
DawnM
Not local enough, no. There is a gym with NO classes closer to me, but it is just machines. There was a walking thing, but it was evenings and I am out of the home between 5-6 nights per week with activities right now and can't go at those times. Dawn I don't exercise without witnesses. Kim in Appalachia
If that what it takes, then yes, I would do it. It's worth the extra effort.
