MrsMommy
I just wanted to share what we got to do this morning. Our town is celebrating its 200th anniversary this year, and to kick off the big party weekend, they held a Naturalization Ceremony for 109 new citizens on the steps of our courthouse. We learned all about how the naturalization process works before we went (and looked at my grandfather's 75 years-old naturalization papers), and then went to hear the speeches and the Oath of Allegiance. It was an amazing experience, and one of those things we wouldn't have gotten to witness if we weren't homeschoolers!

Slache
I went to one once. I didn't think it would be a big deal but I cried. It was really cool to see people of all different nationalities and not think of them as foreigners because this is America and that's what we look like. MrsMommy
I went to one once. I didn't think it would be a big deal but I cried. It was really cool to see people of all different nationalities and not think of them as foreigners because this is America and that's what we look like. I cried, too. The judge was talking about all they left behind, and I was thinking about how my grandfather did the same thing, and I just couldn't help myself! thessa516
Yay!!! I highly recommend attending a Naturalization Ceremony - it's very moving. Part of my Mom's job is to administer the oath at the ceremony. I think it's her favorite part of the job!
