mommaduck
According to my son (and several websites) Microsoft bought Mojang (and Minecraft) for 2.5B. Notch is 1.75B richer and going off to have fun elsewhere. They say they are going to let the game develop on it's own without interference....I hope so. Not sure where this lands on people's scale of evil :P

Mandylubug
All of my kids are quite worried things will change. It has been the highlight of discussion at our house...which goes in circles because no one knows anything about it really. They just love to game. mommaduck
It's successful just the way it is (obviously). It's successful, because it allows people to be creative...both those in game and those that want to create mods and maps. I really, really hope they don't mess with it. gardenmom5
Any other company and I might not be worried. Microsoft will ruin it. balmer is g.o.n.e. :hurray:  (and yeah, microsofities were partying when that was announced.) what other CEO can announce they are leaving, don't say who will replace them - and the stock price goes UP? (which shows what wall street thinks of balmer.) so - what the reality will be with this purchase remains to be seen. they put a techie in charge - not a marketing guy who had no business running a tech company. (but he was bill's roommate. his *only* claim to fame that he invested heavily in MS stock before the IPO. .. . . ) hasta la vista. baby.
