Amazon Prime instant video... free or do I have to pay for each thing I watch?

I'm confused.  Does a prime membership not mean that movies/tv shows are included?  When I add my watch list, each episode has a cost.  ?????

Some are free. They will have the Prime logo next to the name. The ones with a cost are not included. On Amazon, you can do a search for only the free shows and movies.

It depends on what you're watching. Some content is available at no extra cost, and some isn't. For example, the first season of Orphan Black is free, but for the current season you have to pay per episode as it airs.

There is a large database of free movies and shows to watch. But not everything is free.

it should have that little blue "prime' banner and say 'prime' on the page

I found it a little confusing at first because even the Prime content can be purchased.  Purchasing it allows you to download it on devices to watch when you don't have a connection and to keep it if it stops being on Prime.  Just look for the banner.  You'll know if you've bought something - if you do it from a TV device, you have to enter a PIN number and you have to click that you're buying it on the computer.

some things are free - other's aren't.  and the stock of what is free and what you have to pay for changes.

 

it can also be confusing because even those who don't have prime, can rent/purchase the video.  it should have a 'tab' for amazon prime and will tell you if it's $0.00 for prime members, or you have to pay to rent it.
