HollyDay
I asked last year about a recommendation for a cooling vest. Here we are again with another hot summer approaching and I am looking into one again. Anyone have a cooling vest they like?
Hot Lava Mama
Never heard of it. What is it? Hot Lava Mama
In The Great White North
Never heard of a cooling vest, but at swim meets, I have been known to take a white, "sunblock" shirt, and wear it wet (wrung out - not dripping). It makes a huge difference!
EndOfOrdinary
We have purchased one for our dog when we hiked through the desert, but I did not know they made them for people.

skimerinkydo
Look at the Glacier Tek Cool Vest. Www.coolvest.com Wow! Has someone used one of these and can tell how well they work? I could use one of these when my van is down and I have to drive a vintage car with no A/C in the summer heat. The car can get 120 inside and I have been known to stuff freezer icepacks in my shirt and spritz with a spray bottle just to survive. Even the replacement packs are pretty pricy. HollyDay
According to the doctore, cooling vests do work. But, I'm not sure what kind to get. I've looked into phase cooling vests rather than the ones you soak in water first. I'm told the ones that are pre-soaked do not make you feel damp, but dd still doesn't like the idea. She wants something to wear over clothes that will act as a cooler but not get her clothes soggy.
ElizabethB
Interesting, I might have to get one. I do not tolerate the heat well anymore, last year I wore an ice scarf if it was over 90. (Homemade, fold cotton scarf into a triangle, roll up several pieces of ice, wear as a scarf. I would bring a small cooler with extra ice for it.)
