Strangely it is marked for grades 9 -12, only I looked at the samples and they don't seem like grades 9-12 at all. Everything I saw on the samples would be appropriate for my grade 5 student.

What do you guys think?

There was a discussion about this previously. If I was on my computer I would search for it.

Many people agreed that the content seemed too light for high school.

Oh thanks. I totally missed that. I'll try doing a search.

I have all four on my shelf. I think they'll be a nice, light, fun activity for my DD, who loves LOF and loves LA. I'd call them mid/upper elementary at best.

Thank you! It sounds like this will be appropriate for both my 11 and almost 8 year old!

I've got them.  We are almost done with the first book and LOVE it because we love Fred.  My son is 7 (third grade) and it's perfect for him.  It's typical Fred randomness with some language arts thrown in.  He has learned a couple things (like when to use that and when to use which).

  • 2 weeks later...

I am resurrecting this thread because I just received the set yesterday and cannot.believe.this is considered HS material. Has anyone worked all the way through? I mean, obviously with LoF Butterflies for math it is MUCH easier than say Mineshaft.
But I started Australia with my very advanced dd4 (who can read pretty much anything and has playful experience with all sorts of grammar, literary devices, etc., but nothing really formal!) and I am thinking it is just about perfect. Of course, I am not worried about mastery, but...

Anybody finished the set yet? What do you think?
