Mama Geek
She fell off the equipment on the playground. She was climbing on stuff I probably shouldn't have been letting her climb on. The said they don't do casts anymore and the put her in a splint. She is sleeping right now.
trulycrabby
I'm sorry! :( Buckle fracture are pretty stable, so that's why they don't do hard casts anymore. I hope she feels better very soon! :)

swellmomma
When ds15 was just under 2 he got a buckle fracture of his left tibia, they never casted or splinted it. They said a buckle fracture is the most stable and casting it can actually make things worse, he was walking on it just fine 2 weeks later, you would have never known that he had fractured it. Mama Geek
Thanks guys, dd is in good spirits tonight although I have already had to tell her no climbing until she is better.
umsami
Ouch. That happened to DD when she was only 18 months old. She followed her brothers up a play slide, stood up at the top to get in position, and fell the other way. I was there when it happened and felt awful. The pediatric orthopedist did put a cast on, but I think it had to do with her age…and the fact that she had young siblings as well. Hugs. foxbridgeacademy
DD had a buckle about 3 years ago, they wouldn't cast her at the ER but the bone doctor(sorry what are they called?) did it next day. Cast came off to early IMO (3 weeks). DD still has pain and trouble with putting weight on it sometimes. We've had it x-rayed they say she's fine.... so we just ice it and sling it for a day or two (per Doctors orders).

I broke my collar bone years ago and until I exercised and built up the muscles specifically in my back and shoulders I sometimes had problems with it. I don't know if something like that would help or not.
