What to do after BJU Pre-Algebra if not ready for Algebra 1?

Recommended Posts

Real World Algebra falls between Pre-A and Algebra: http://www.amazon.com/Real-World-Algebra-Edward-Zaccaro/dp/0967991528

TabletClass Pre-A has a lot of Algebra content.  You could do 6 months focusing on new (to him) concepts: http://www.tabletclass.com/courses/prealgebra.aspx

AoPS Pre-A has advanced concepts as well.

Will he be using BJU for Algebra 1?

I guess it would depend upon why he is not ready.  If he needs more review, then maybe Key to Algebra.  If he needs more time, then maybe Life Of Fred Algebra.  Or maybe some geometry.  I've personally, not used it, but what does Patty Paper Geometry cover? Or perhaps a different program from BJU like Lial's Intro to Algebra

Thank you ladies for the ideas and advice. We are going through the new edition(yellow cover) of BJU Pre-Algebra. I will probably just slow him down a bit so there is no more than 45-60 minutes of math in one sitting and do some fun math like Life of Fred or similar in between and just keep going until it is done and when we are done, we'll just move on to algebra 1 and call it that.
