TXMary2
Does anyone know where I can find a GPA scale that includes + - A+ = 4.0 but what would A and A- be?
kiana
It is much more common that A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1. Each + adds .3 and each - takes away .3 (so C- would be 2 - .3 = 1.7).
Barb_
I think that would be different enough to put your student at a disadvantage.

Melissa B
Sorry, it won't copy and paste. I'll type it out below. A - 4 A- - 3.67 B+ - 3.33 B - 3.0 B- - 2.67 C+ - 2.33 C - 2.0 C- - 1.67 D+ - 1.33 D - 1.0 D- - 0.
Bootsie
This is what is used at my university: A+ Outstanding -- worth 4.00 points A Outstanding -- worth 4.00 points A- Outstanding -- worth 3.67 points B+ Above Average -- worth 3.33 points B Above Average -- worth 3.00 points B- Above Average -- worth 2.67 points C+ Average -- worth 2.33 points C Average -- worth 2.00 points C- Average -- worth 1.67 points D+ Below Average but Passing -- worth 1.33 points D Below Average but Passing – worth 1.00 point D- Below Average but Passing – worth .67 points F Failure (no credit) -- 0 points When began Using a +/- system a couple of years ago and it was controversial. One of the main arguments was that it hurt the straight A students--they got nothing extra for an A+ but their gpa would fall with an A-. EKS
I have seen an A+ as being a 4.3, but usually it is just a 4.0 like the A (which doesn't make sense to me, but I use it anyway). Then an A- is a 3.7, a B+ is a 3.3, a B is a 3.0, and so on.
Pawz4me
This is the scale used by our local public school system: 96%-100%=4.000 95%=3.875 94%=3.750 93%=3.625 92%=3.500 91%=3.375 90%=3.250 89%=3.125 88%=3.000 87%=2.875 86%=2.750 85%=2.625 84%=2.500 83%=2.375 82%=2.250 81%=2.125 80%=2.000 79%=1.875 78%=1.750 77%=1.625 76%=1.500 75%=1.375 74%=1.250 73%=1.125 70-72%=1.000 ≤69%=0.
Bootsie
This is the scale used by our local public school system: 96%-100%=4.000 95%=3.875 94%=3.750 93%=3.624 92%=3.500 91%=3.375 90%=3.250 89%=3.125 88%=3.000 87%=2.875 86%=2.750 Wow! It is curious that they make such a distinction in the A/B range but not in the lower grade ranges.
