LaughingCat
composing a response to someone - only to realize you are completely overreacting to something? I hate when I do that - what a waste of time! wish I could just realize up front. At least I usually manage not to actually post the response. Catwoman
I don't spend more than a few minutes, but yes, I have written detailed posts only to realize I was completely over-reacting and entirely off-base. I usually realize it before I post, but not always.
Dandelion
Yes. It's not a waste of time though, if it allows you to process your feelings and realize you're overreacting before you post it. ;)

school17777
Yes, I've done that. However, if I'm that upset by it, I've found that I should sleep on it (although I don't really sleep because all I'm thinking about is the response) and then compose a response. The overnight response is usually more appropriate and less emotional than the first composed e-mail.
Guest
Yes, and I feel stupid about wasting the time, but considering how many times I've posted and THEN realized I'd overreacted and hurt somebody else's feelings, I usually say, "GOOD girl! I'm so proud of me! I'm really growing up!" and go get myself a doggie biscuit. ;) I'm aware that I'm projecting my own unresolved issues on the OP and putting my feelings into words, so it's poor man's therapy and not a complete waste of time, it just belongs in a private journal, not on the internet for the whole world to see. wintermom
I usually don't post my responses, because I keep imagining my dh's laughter in my mind with him saying "why are you wasting so much energy on this?"
GreenKitty
Yes, I usually plan it all out first, in my head. Then realize its just way too much to type.
