melissamomof5
Just wondering if this would be age-appropriate for my 6 and 8 year-olds? They will be 7 and 9 within a couple months. Thanks!
plain jane
It depends how advanced they are. My child was 9 when we did this book but she is very advanced in LA so her comprehension and writing skills allowed her to get a lot out of the program. It was probably her favorite year of science but part of it was because the book was so challenging (she enjoys a good challenge when it comes to science). My experience would be that your younger child would not get much out of it and it would likely be quite over their head. I have kids that age right now and I won't be doing this book with them for a few years yet. It's a very meaty book. You might be happier waiting another year (or two) to do this one. :)

Mommy22alyns
I agree; at 6 and 8 most of it would be over their heads. I tried it when the girls were in 1st and 3rd and dropped it after a few chapters. Maybe 4th-6th grades? It did look fascinating and the human body is my favorite, so I was sad to drop it. claluck
I am doing it with my 9 and 11 year old. (5th and 6th grades) Both are above average in most academic areas. It is right at their level. Not too hard not too easy. I tried reading along with my almost 7 year old twins and dropped it for them. Just too much. I want science to be interesting. I am doing the Human Body Detectives with them. Or I should say I am hoping to start that with them next week
momto2blessings
My kids were 9 and 12 and it was just about right. It would have been too much for them at 6 and 8....I think it's one of the more advanced Apologia books.
Chelli
You might look at the new Sassafras Science Adventures book. It's about Human Anatomy. I'm reading the Zoology one with my 6 and 9 year olds and they both enjoy it.
KellyMama
We did it when the kids were 8, 10, 11 and it was wonderful!! Definitely more challenging for my 2nd grader at the time but he was an older 2nd and rose to the challenge. I used the Jr journal for him. I might wait a year in your shoes.
