Awww, come on--you missed an opportunity to use geometry to calculate area and volume???  Cheater!  I made my own wedding cake and still have fond memories of calculating the number of cups of batter to use in several different, oddly-sized pans.  And yes, that may be the only time I have ever used high school geometry.

Actually I calculated the square inches and figured out the 13 x 9 had more area. The cake cooked in 30 minutes. It's perfect. Well, it looks good. I haven't yet tasted it.
