vettechmomof2
My daughter trains dogs for a minimum of 3 hours/week in outside classes in a variety of styles. She also uses a variety of dogs for the different classes. She also reads up on the different styles as well as participates in Dog 4-H. So, my question to you all is do I count this as an elective, extracurricular or just not mark it and count it as fun??? Again the min. of 3 hours/week is outside of the house training. That is not counting time in the house training which is much more. Thanks!

Jenny in Florida
Unless she needs the credits, I'd probably consider it an extracurricular, especially if you think she will continue doing it for more than a year or two.
Candid
I would also lean toward extracurricular.

Gwen in VA
Extracurricular. Keep the transcript for showcasing academics. Colleges want strong EC's, especially from homeschoolers. Colleges want to see that our kids didn't spend their lives at the dining room table but had lots of opportunities to be involved in the community. Tthe dog-training would do that! You could list it as a class, but I would only do that if your student is very nonacademic and desperately needs the additional credit. vettechmomof2
She has been training and showing since she was 8 years so awhile now and will continue with it regardless of if she gets credit for it or not. So extra curricular it is then. Thanks all, Allene
dirty ethel rackham
I would go with extracurricular. If you had an academic angle on this (like researching training techniques and writing a paper on them), then I would put it as an elective as well as extracurricular.
