SeeSchells
My daughter wants to read. She has completed AAR Pre-level 1. But she isn't interested in level 1 or any other reading program I try with her. She LOVES workbooks. Are there any that would help with phonics and early reading? alisoncooks
My youngest is going through the ETC workbooks. She's not yet solid on all her letter sounds, so we're going through the A/B/C books for review.
SeeSchells
ETC? Sorry some of these acronyms are new to me still :) Olive isn't solid on a few letter sounds either. Review would be good!
T'smom
Explode the code. My ds 5 likes them because he loves to color the pictures when he's done.

craftyerin
Explode the Code workbooks for sure. Book 1 is all work on CVC (three letter, short vowel) words. Working through that book helped two of mine make BIG leaps in their decoding ability. Book 2 is still all short vowels, but adds consonant blends to both the beginning and end of words, so you will encounter longer words like swish. Two of mine are now in this level, and they are still really enjoying it. One of mine will need some time in 1 1/2 before he's ready for 2, I suspect. The 1/2 books are review/extra practice for each level, if needed, but can be skipped if you don't. Book 3 (which we haven't gotten to) introduces long vowels, I think.
