caitlinsmom
How difficult are they to get rid of? after they are gone is there a monthly/yearly regimen that you follow to keep them from coming back? Any experience you can share would be great.
Tenaj
We've been through this in a home we owned and also dealt with it as a problem in the parsonage at our church. In both case, we hired exterminators where there was an initial treatment course and then an annual fee for continual inspections and further treatment as necessary. In both cases, the initial treatment took care of the problem (hmmm . . . I think at the parsonage a few years later we did have to call and have them treat around the flower beds again). The contract allowed us to call anytime for an inspection.
ChristusG
We had them once. Like the previous poster, the initial treatment took care if them. Now we have a yearly inspection.

Also, if we pay the yearly fee, have inspections/retreatements and the termites damage the house, they will pay for repairs.
momofkhm
Same here. First treatment took care of the termites and now we have a yearly inspection with possible treatment if necessary. When it happened - the termite swarm - my folks were surprised that we didn't already have a yearly thing going.
melissad2
Yep, we had them...initial treatment that cost about $2500 and then $225 yearly. We also went with terminix.
DoppeltGemoppelt
It will be $1000 for us and they have a 10-year warranty. We'll see how it goes... Our home inspector said to avoid leaving any wood close to the house and get rid of bushes and trees that touch the foundation, siding, roof, etc. This is how they got into the house in the first place. beckster
Another happy Terminix customer here! Initial treatment and yearly checks. The hardest part was getting through the time between finding them and getting treatment. I would wake up every morning convinced that would be the day the house would disintegrate around me!
