kalanamak Posted January 26, 2013 Share Posted January 26, 2013 I don't know if anyone remembers the ups and downs we went through with a rather hyper, easily frustrated boy with a teeny Cuban mother and a not so great dad? The one who ran up to a dog and got a nasty bite on the face? The one who put soiled undies in my son's face to disgust him? The one my husband stuck by for years trying to be a loving male role model? Well, the boy's GPs, aunt and a pair of cousins moved in from Cuba and the boy suddenly wasn't the only child and had some better parenting in the extended family. He is a MUCH better boy. He figured out that tantrums got him left out of the fun, and his demands to be the center of attention were ignored. Plus, his girl cousin could punch back*! Amazing. As the months pass he gets better and better. *Something my son was not allowed to do. P.S. Mom is a lot happier having family here, too.
