thescrappyhomeschooler
We listened to lots of Beverly Cleary, all the Little House books, Inkheart & Inkspell (and a little of Inkdeath, but they didn't like the reader), The Peppins and their Problems, and some others that I can't remember. I want to request something fun and interesting from the library, but I don't know what. Ideas?
speedmom4
My boys love the Percy Jackson books, Redwall, and Harry Potter. God Bless, Elise in NC
Lily_Grace
The Graveyard Book, The Magician's Elephant, and Percy Jackson were all favorites here.
Trillian
DS also loved Percy Jackson and The Kane Chronicles that followed (some he listened to, some he read, some he did both). He didn't care for the narrator of The Lost Hero series by the same author. He also loved the Underlander series.
dancingmama
Mine liked Flat Stanley and 39 Clues. I'm considering the Hard Boys next.
Bensmom
Hank the Cowdog. We have a tiny library and it has a huge collection of Hank on audio. Silly humor my ds (9) loves it. (Think if Barny Fife from Andy Griffith had been a dog...that's Hank) It is read by the author who uses different voices for different characters and has a silly song in each one. I think the audio is much more entertaining than the books for this series. My son is reading the Percy Jackson series right now and loves them. I have read the first Percy Jackson and thought it was very captivating. I would save it to read and not just audio. (But maybe it has great sound effects too?) crazyforlatin
Bunnicula Ranger's Apprentice, though there is some violence Guardians of Ga'hoole The Great Brain Redwall, narrated by the author himself, though it does take a little time to get used to his accent All books read by Jim Dale, such as Emerald Atlas, Harry Potter, Peter Pan and the Starcatchers, Stoneheart Trilogy Possibly Where the Red Fern Grows, but it has a sensitive ending Charlie Bone series DD happens to like books either with an edge or with humor, so I'm thinking some boys might have similar interests. Amethyst
The best audiobook ever: Tale of Despereaux Also, anything by Odds Bodkin I've never listened to Hank the Dowdog on audio, but my boys would laugh out loud over those books. crazyforlatin
Maybe Crispin series by Avi, though it's somewhat graphic in some places. The series is set in the Middle Ages, which means you'll get descriptions of hanging corpses and such.
