Jaz
Eek! I can't believe I'm posting on this board already. Where did the time go? :001_smile: My ds recently joined a teen engineering group. The kids meet every other week to work on projects. Two boys are working on an autonomous airplane, another is trying to redo a remote control race car so it will run automatically around a dirt track he built in their backyard. A couple of others are using Lego Mindstorm to try to solve a Rubik’s cube. I'd like to help my ds with some suggestions for a project. The leaders (engineers/homeschool parents) are open to just about anything. The kids can have full use of their workshop. They are using Arduino to get started. Any suggestions? mamato4
You would have to scroll through the projects but here's a site by radio shack where people submit ideas or creations https://www.radioshackdiy.com/project-gallery Popular Mechanics usually has a section every month with a project using Arduino. Jean in Newcastle
My ds was building a laser tag set with arduino. He took apart a Star Wars toy blaster to use as the gun. Unfortunately he didn't have any actual plans that he was following.

Janice in NJ
Encourage your engineers to start working like engineers; encourage them to document their work. https://engineering.purdue.edu/ece477/Homework/CommonRefs/Tutorials/Other/Project%20Notebook%20Guidelines.pdf http://www.engineering.uiowa.edu/ess/future-students/k-12/first-tech-challenge/coaches/engineering-notebook http://www.williamson-labs.com/notebook.htm http://www.bookfactory.com/engineering-notebooks/engineering-notebooks.html http://www.snco.com/student.htm Tons of info out there. Do an advanced search on "Engineering Notebook" and ".edu"; plenty to get you started. :001_smile: Peace, Janice
TechWife
Make magazine always has great ideas, complete with instructions. There are project books for Mindstorms that are really good, just search for "mindstorm" on Amazon. Everest Trek (Building Math: Integrating Algebra & Engineering) - there are others in this series Arduino Cookbook FIRST Robotics Here are some helpful web sites w/info & project ideas: Design Squad Nation eGFI - American Society for Engineering Teacher Site - projects, lesson plans, etc. Engineering is Elementary (K-12 resources) Science Buddies (good resource for project ideas) Try Engineering (from IEEE)
