Mom in High Heels
I've never been a fan of cream soup, but Indy's all time favorite meal is Chicken Broccoli casserole and if it doesn't have cream soup, well, it's just not the same. I'd love to have an alternative. Any ideas? Let me amend that. Any simple ideas?
Laura Corin
Make a white sauce? It's just butter, flour and milk and is the basis of cream-style soups (before they add in all the commercial additives). Laura

Parrothead
You could try this recipe. Here is a different version. And one using fresh broccoli instead of frozen.
LittleIzumi
Canned coconut milk and sauteed mushrooms.

Laura :iagree: A white sauce is super simple to make and it is what the cream style soup is supposed to be mimicking. I guess, if he liked the soup, you make it extra, extra salty at first so it seems familiar
mumto2
Maybe add a bouillon cube to the white sauce. That would add flavor and salt content!

serene
I keep the basic version of this dry mix on hand (I don't add the thyme or basil, and I use chicken bouillon). It's fast & easy, and tastes good. You can add other spices to suit the dish you're preparing.
