kricau
that will hang on the wall and fold out (like magic). I would like it to be white, so it will match the rest of the school room. I have seen these: https://www.schooloutfitters.com/catalog/product_info/pfam_id/PFAM8118/products_id/PRO20704?sc_cid=Google_EDS-WDMB20047&adtype=pla&kw=&CAWELAID=1238946297 Not crazy about metal :( But the price is ok. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0010T09BA/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&smid=A37KJFB4Q2R1UD This one is nice, but not alot going on. http://www.amazon.com/Southern-Enterprises-Fold-out-Convertible-Winter/dp/B004O8CIP4/ref=pd_sbs_etk_hg_fd__5 This is more like it, but the price is kind of steep. http://www.amazon.com/SEI-Mount-Laptop-Brown-Mahogany/dp/B005SGL276/ref=pd_sbs_etk_hg_fd__9 Perfect if it came in white. Anybody else seen these?
Teachin'Mine
Would something simple like this work? It's inexpensive, and then you could mount small shelves on the wall above it with bins to hold all the desk supplies. Might be roomier and a bit sturdier than the all-in-one desks. Also, the desk supplies would be accessible whether the desk was folded out or not. This could be a positive or a negative. :tongue_smilie: http://www.amazon.com/Ikea-Wall-Mounted-Drop-leaf-Folding-Table/dp/B0050S7CK8/ref=sr_1_1?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1342665225&sr=1-1&keywords=wall+mounted+folding+table
kricau
Yeah, that would be good. But now I have to find the shelf to go above it LOL

mom4him
Have you considered getting the one of choice, sanding it lightly and painting it with a good enamel? I painted a couple of cabinets and a small table one time and then put a coat of oil base poly on. They have held up very well. I wish I could still do those kids of things. DarlaS
Here's one someone would have to build (looks very simple really): http://ana-white.com/2011/09/flip-down-wall-art-desk-0 I love how she applied chalkboard paint to the underside. Tap
Desk #1 too small. A piece of paper barely sits on it. It says it is 18" tall, but looking at that paper and pen, there is no way that the writing surface is that big. Most people lean forward a bit to read or write. If the student is tall, they won't be comfortable. If someone leans on an elbow, I would worry about denting it. #2. The desk surface is laminate. The small hinges on the sides, will have small screws. Screws and laminate, don't last. I wouldn't even consider this choice. #3 The best choice of the 4. I like that you sit sideways so there is more head room and can be used from the left or right. The desk surface is large enough to use. The leg has more surface area to support the desk, instead of a couple small hinges. Con-MDF construction is HEAVY. Make sure there are studs in the walls spaced the same distance as the desk requires before buying if possible. #4 Too small. 13 inch deep writing surface+ 11inch standard paper =too small. It doesn't say what material it is made out of just mahogany finish. Makes me think it is not solid wood.
cherimoya
Kohls has a really good deal on it right now. It's $299.99 to buy one and the second one is a dollar. Use the 30% off (expires 7/22) online would make it $210 plus tax. You would also get $10 for every $50 (expires today 7/18) spent, so essentially it would be $40 back. That makes it two for $160 plus taxes. Hope that helps. http://www.kohls.com/kohlsStore/furniture/by_type/desks/contemporary/PRD~845312/Julian+FoldOut+Convertible+Desk.jsp

kricau
That could work to. But hate to spend that much and still have to paint it :( Have you considered getting the one of choice, sanding it lightly and painting it with a good enamel? Based on Faith Academy
Wow these are all great and I didn't even know they made such a thing. Though they would definitely be out of my price range. I hope you find what you are looking for.
