Barb_
I mentioned several times how it sure seems like the longest day of the year
NorthwestMom
Up here it won't be completely dark for another 3 hours or so. It's my favorite time of year!!!!

FairyMom
Fun!! I just had a spontaneous visit from my mom! We had a glass of wine and listened to music and danced on the porch!!! :D
happyhomemaker
We had homemade ice cream with tons of toppings. The kids want it to be a summer solstice tradition. :001_smile:
SunnyDays
We grilled burgers and ate dinner outside. And then we had a major thunderstorm so it got really dark and we didn't even get to see the extra daylight!! Ah, well. :)
Element
It was super hot today so we stayed inside until 7 or so, then we stayed outside until 9:30. A group of about 10 neighborhood kids were playing kickball in the yards and running races, and the parents were all crowded onto our porch talking. It was an absolutely lovely evening! Happy Summer Solstice, everyone! :001_smile:
Mom in High Heels
60 degrees and raining here, so no outside celebrating for us. Way to go Mother Nature. :glare: Last year we had a group of friends outside and drank wine late into the evening. Best Solstice ever! Sadly aside from the rain and chill, all of our friends who were there last year have PCS'd (military speak for move) as have we. We had the best group of friends at our last post and I miss them all so much! BTW, it during the summer here it doesn't get dark until 10:30/11pm from early June to about mid-Sept. On the 4th of July, they can't shoot fireworks off (there is always a big celebration on post) until after 11. We're too tired to watch by then! laughing lioness
We stayed out until after 10. The younger kids swam and the rest of us built a fire, drank decaf and then the kids made s'mores. We'd had rain after a week of NASTY wind and high heat (90's) and the sky, clouds and air were calm and totally beautiful. It was a delightful evening! Audrey
We had friends over for a bonfire and to watch the sun go down. It was past 11:30 and still a faint light in the sky. Since we all had to work today, we called it sunset and headed for bed. :D
