Eln
Does anyone have any recommendations for a great computer programming book with word processing and Excel? He did complete Virtual World Design and Creation. So something a little bit more advanced. It did not include word or excel. Thanks! jpklehm
I just purchased Teen Coder's Window program. http://www.homeschoolprogramming.com/teencoder/teencoder_windows.php The Windows program is semester 1 and a gaming program is Semester 2. My ds is really looking forward to getting that started. HTH.
Mom22ns
Word and Excel have nothing to do with programming. If you want him to learn how to use computer applications (like Word and Excel) it will be a very different class than programming. For programming, I would recommend Alice if that wasn't what he did his virtual world creation in.
CarlaJoy
My husband is a programmer and recommends starting with Scratch. Python is great for after Scratch, if you are looking for something more high school oriented.
daijobu
If you decide to go with Python, we've had a good experience so far (half way through the book) with Python Programming for Absolute Beginners by Michael Dawson. The author's paradigm is to create games of increasing complexity as you learn more programming tools. HTH.
crazyforlatin
HSBC has a discount on programming. I was looking at the kid's version, but not knowing anything about programming, I'm stuck in limbo. ETA: Pam linked to the seller's website.
