PrincessMommy
I accidentally left out an unopened package of smoked salmon. It vacuum packed but does say to keep refrigerated. Would you toss or keep?
Tenaj
Really just bumping this for you . . . but doesn't the "smoking" process preserve things . . . I mean, that what people did before refrigeration . . of course, like everything else, the process has probably changed over the years. I guess it would depend for me on how long it was out, at what temperature and especially how it smelled when I opened the package :)

Jean in Newcastle
I thought that those were a "refrigerate after opening" thing. They usually aren't refrigerated in the stores and are sent in the mail unrefrigerated, right?
A.Balaban
I know there are kinds that come shelf-stable and kind that are kept refrigerated (Not sure if it actually necessary!) Hmmmm! I guess I would try it. JMO, though.
momtoamiracle
did it come out of the refrigerated section of the store? If so I would toss it I think. If it was on the shelf I would eat it.
