Mynyel
Ladies I need serious help. I am not disciplined enough to stay off the computer. I spend way to much time on it. This is not tongue in cheek! There are other things I need to do but I forsake them to get on here (meaning the computer) an putter around everywhere but where I need to be. Is there a software out there that I can use to limit the time I can spend on the internet? Something that will block my internet connection at certain times that I specify? I do want to be able to turn it off but I do plan on making a really difficult password or something in order to turn it on. I know myself enough to know that this is pretty much the only way I will stay off. Any suggestions?
theYoungerMrsWarde
Leechblock. I learned about it on here. It's free, but I think it only works if you are using firefox. But for it to really work, you need to click the option that says you can't change the times during the black-out times. :tongue_smilie:
VA6336
I've used Leechblock for FireFox, too.
Mynyel
I will look into that but I need something that blocks internet access, I need to stay off a game I play as well :)
Wyndie
I am all :bigear:! I used leechblock, but it was too easy to defeat when the blocked times were over.
Alte Veste Academy
Leechblock was too easy to bypass. So sad, but true. True confessions? In the past, when up against a deadline, I have actually put my laptop adapter in DH's car in the morning. Once he drives to work, it's all over for computer time for me. :tongue_smilie: It's quite liberating to be unable to get on the computer at all. Parrothead
K9 Protection. I have it on dd's computer. She can't access the internet between X and Y times. It is free. Install it, have your dh (or a trusted kiddo) do the password so you don't know it, and set your times.
Matryoshka
My dh can restrict access to certain websites or the whole internet at certain times of days, and I've asked him to do that. I'm sure I can do it too, but I purposefully remain ignorant, or I'd cheat. So don't ask me how he does it, but it's possible. I think it's some kind of administrator thing, not a separate program(?)
