Onceuponatime
So, this morning I go to my tiny country library to pick up the copy of Ahab's Wife that was being held for me. As the librarian is checking out the book for me, she says, "A book's gotta be mighty good for me to read that many pages." :001_huh:
Jean in Newcastle
:svengo: Though I do see her point in the sense that I wouldn't want to read page after page of boring drivel.
AuntieM
Rather ironic, coming from a librarian.
NanceXToo
LOL. Well, it would sorta kinda be like a chef saying, "A meal's gotta be mighty good for me to eat that many calories," right? It IS funny coming from somebody who lives around books all day but like Jean said, who would want to read a long BORING book? :D Nance, who just recently bought a used copy of Ahab's Wife at a library book sale but hasn't read it yet. Carol in Cal.
Wow, civil service job much?
WishboneDawn
Honestly, I share her sentiment. Who's going to want to slog through a long but mediocre book?
Jennifer3141
I've been going through 1001 Books to Read Before You Die and I admit to feeling some sorrow. I wonder how much good stuff we've let slip away into history because the books were too long? I think that's a weird attitude for a librarian. And it's NOT that big a dang book. :D
