Remudamom
I want to move a step up and get a Fire, but I'd like to sell my other one first. Anyone ever done this? How do you get your account off of your Kindle? Remove your books? And then could you put your stuff back on your new Kindle?
Heather in Neverland
All you have to do is deregister it on e amazon website under manage your devices. Easy peasy.
ElizaG
You can de-register a Kindle; it's somewhere in the settings. The new Kindle will go to Amazon's server and find the books when you register it. BUT... I wouldn't recommend getting rid of your old Kindle until you've spent a good chunk of time with the new one. We have both, and I personally consider the Fire's LCD screen (and the interface in general) to be a big step down as far as reading books is concerned. :tongue_smilie:
Word Nerd
I agree it wouldn't be an upgrade if your primary focus is reading. I got an iPad after a Kindle, but I still prefer the Kindle's e-ink over reading on the Kindle app on the iPad. lilypoo
I'll be the voice of dissent and say I *much* prefer reading on the Kindle Fire vs. my second generation Kindle. And I think the interface on the 2nd gen. was horrible. My only issue with selling my old Kindle is that they've lowered the prices of the new e-ink/keyboard models so much, it's not worth what I could get for my old one to sell it. I've tried to pass it down to one of my teens but they prefer paper books...now I'm trying to get dh to adopt it!!
Down_the_Rabbit_Hole
I had 2 Kindles that I sold on the For Sale forum. We were able to unregister our Kindles with no problem. I do not know about getting the old info onto a new one...we hated ours so will not get a new one.
Lizzie in Ma
When you register your new one, anything you bought for the old one can be downloaded into the new one.
