  1. I don't understand how people can be so rude! I don't really have this problem, as everyone says my daughters look just like me and my sons like dh. Although I feel like I see some of dh in each of the kids (some more than others). I have dark green eyes and brown hair, dh has brown eyes and brown hair...we have two brown-haired girls, one with light green/blue eyes and one with dark hazel eyes. And then we have two blonde, blue-eyed boys. But since we have a 6 year gap between child #2 and child #3, I've repeatedly been asked if my first two kids and last two kids have different dads--they don't. That's the rude one I often get.
  2. I find that I need to double or triple wash to really get my girl clean. I have a bunch of different doggy shampoos and they all basically seem the same to me. The ones that are meant to be deep cleaning (usually citrus scented) work a little better, I guess. The anal gland thing is somewhat controversial. Some believe groomers should do it, some believe vets should, some believe no one ever should. I've never heard of anyone being advised to do it at home.
  3. I don't do flat paint. :) So I repaint if I have flat paint or want to change a color. :)
  4. I really like Breathe and On Guard from doTerra.
  5. I found Where the Red Fern Grows (among other similiarly themed books) quite traumatizing when read in grade school.
  6. We pay $17.50 per half hour for piano (and again for voice; she teaches both and right now dd takes piano and I take voice) so I think $15 for 45 minutes including a brief history lesson would be a great deal. I've noticed in my area, most teachers are charging $10 per half hour, which is a great deal. Not sure why they don't charge more!
  7. It sounds like you have a good plan! Stick with it, and let someone know if you end up feeling like you can't execute it. My husband and most of the people around me did NOT think I was depressed. He was certain I was not, my mom was certain I was not, my dad was certain I was not...my older kids were certain I wasn't. But I was, and am doing much better on a mild antidepressant and having also treated several nutritional deficiencies (D, B12, folate) that I discovered after seeking medical help. I have anxiety too and nutrition/exercise are so tied in with the depression/anxiety/OCD stuff. I discovered I have mild hypothyroidism as well...and treating everything has made me feel like a new person. I take 5-HTP and some amino acids as well. It's a whole regimen I worked out that seems to keep my spirits up. Hang in there! :)
  8. Tom Sawyer's Gluten-Free flour has made all the difference going GF for my kids. I'm mostly Primal but this flour is made out of rice and tapioca primarily and I do allow myself rice on occasion a la Perfect Health Diet so I partake too. It's allowed me to make pancakes, bread, cookies, etc. that taste and look NORMAL to the kids. I used to make all our substitutions with almond flour and most were heavy and oily, no matter what I tried. My 7yo daughter has Crohn's and her remissions are much more solid when she's GF. I'm less bloated and irritable, and I lose weight effortlessly. And IBS goes away for me completely. Everyone in the family is trimmer on a GF diet, even when we still eat sugar. We also avoid all other grains but rice. I've come to the conclusion that corn is kinda garbage. I've lost 40+ pounds and reversed diabetes and hypertension since I went grain-free.
  9. I would never want to be without my desktop. My laptop is for when I want to use the computer somewhere other than my desk! LOL
  10. My trainer is a guy and while I wasn't jumping for joy over him doing my fitness assessment, I didn't really care. It was just like "meh" and "now he knows how fat and unfit I really am." LOL For free training...um yeah...they could see me naked for all I care. I've always been annoyed, btw, how women on TBL have to wear sports bras with no shirt for weigh-ins and the men can wear t's. What's up with that? LOL
  11. I'll be the voice of dissent and say I *much* prefer reading on the Kindle Fire vs. my second generation Kindle. And I think the interface on the 2nd gen. was horrible. My only issue with selling my old Kindle is that they've lowered the prices of the new e-ink/keyboard models so much, it's not worth what I could get for my old one to sell it. I've tried to pass it down to one of my teens but they prefer paper books...now I'm trying to get dh to adopt it!!
  12. I've had Prime since 2004 and I wouldn't be without it! We save SO much on shipping. I order a lot of food, household supplies, appliances, etc. and getting something overnighted for $4 is insane...free 2-day shipping (which often really only takes one day in my area) is amazing. I buy a lot of new and used books as well. And their prices on almost everything are less than I can find locally. The addition of the free streaming video and other perks has been icing on the cake!
  13. I voted "no" because we have bark scorpions every now and then. We back an ag field and occasionally they make it through the block fencing and past all the pest control we do!
