ciyates
I was reading the previous tread and it got me to thinking. I don't let DS (16 tomorrow!) listen to his ipod when he is going to sleep. I think it will damage his hearing. It is sorta like my mom telling me not to sit close to the TV or I will damage my eye sight. I don't have any proof of this and when I googled it I am not finding anything really solid. If he sets it down low could he sleep with it on without hurting his ears. I am sure they won't be in there in the morning with the way he moves when he sleeps.
Wendi
Would you feel better if he used a small speaker, and put it on his headboard or nightstand? Wendi
TN Mama
My daughter listens to her iPod, but it's in a dock.
PinkInTheBlue
If their iPods were only iPods and not Touches I might think about it. I agree with you so my condition would be the need for a considerably low volume. Of course I always require a self-control on volume for everyone anyway. :) Have fun but keep it within reason. kitten18
I listen to my ipod while I'm going to sleep. I use earbuds but when I'm using them in bed, the volume is VERY low. I need less than 1/4 volume than I need during the day when I'm moving around and there is background noise.
Parrothead
Dd has an ipod Touch that she listens to. We downloaded a white noise app. I have the same app for my Android phone.
Mabeline
My boys have one iPod they share and use it to listen to audiobooks on a dock. They love it. I use mine with ear buds to go to sleep only sometimes. Although I use it in the middle of the night to get back to sleep. I find that it helps me turn off my brain. If I don't use it, my brain starts spinning and thinking about a million things and I don't get back to sleep for hours. I like using my earphone things that hook over my ear, I feel that they let my ear canal breathe a little better.
Jean in Newcastle
Ds14 has a small round speaker that looks like a hockey puck and fits nicely under his pillow. He has his IPod set to turn off after one hour (under the alarm setting).
regentrude
Both my kids listen to music on their ipod/mp3player when they go to sleep. Sometimes they use their earphones, sometimes their speakers. I don't see why listening at night would be worse than during the day - there is no ambient noise and they can turn it on low. The actual casualty were DD's earphones which she damaged from sleeping on them. Edited December 26, 2011 by regentrude
Mrs_JWM
I have these, and I love them so that I can listen to binaural beats while falling asleep: http://www.sleepphones.com/ My daughter has a dock and I don't allow earbuds. In the car, she can use noise-cancelling headphones. The volume doesn't have to be turned up because they cancel out ambient noise.
