lorrainejmc
I'm struggling for ideas this year myself. The kids (dd10, ds8 and ds5) have chosen their main gift themselves (dd Build a bear stuff, ds8 nintendo 3ds, ds5 nintendo dsi) so for stocking/surprises we have: books dvds colouring books art/craft stuff like "knit your own dog", jumping clay, crayons/pencils character beenie toys are always popular sweets It's still looking like a lot less than other years as I have run out of ideas. I might actually have to leave the comfort of my computer and go to a real shopping mall..... :willy_nilly:

ProudGrandma
Where do you find smencils? In person or online only? I have seen them at teach supply stores and even Micheals craft stores. But you can buy them online too...Rainbow Resource sells them as well as Timberdoodle. They are around....and my kids LOVE them.
Jenny in Florida
This is what I remember off the top of my head. I don't have the list in front of me. 16-year-old daughter: -personalized pajamas (a family tradition) -ornament made be me (also a tradition) -a crocheted "Jayne hat" (inspired by "Firefly") -a jewelry stand she has admired from JoAnn's -a length of fabric she loves and a promise to make her something of her choice with it -the audio version if John Green's new book, read by the author (Not actually released until January, but she'll get the receipt or something on Christmas morning.) -a renewal of her opening night Playbill subscription -probably at least one more significant thing, if my husband has his way - For the stocking, she'll get a couple of inexpensive DVDs, some edible treats including a few packages of microwave popcorn and sllly socks (one more tradition) For my 13-year-old son: -personalized pajamas -hand-made ornament -wooden box stained and decorated and filled with candy (matches the ones he's making for his friends) -a few books -cross-stitched bookmark -briefcase (which he's wanted for months) -a couple of new ties with matching pocket squares and a gift certificate forca shopping spree at JC Penney's -his stocking will also have DVDs, socks and treats. I am certain my husband won't consider the above lists long enough, and he will go buy more stuff. But that's what I know for sure at the moment. My husband is getting: -a new ornament -a new stereo unit -a desk calendar from Shuuterfly with pictures of the kids -a package of assorted small Muppet stuff I've collected -a stocking stuffed with a couple if DVDs, etc. -whatever else I can brainstorm in the next week or so
Iucounu
This is what we actually bought. Eyeballing this list, it looks like we spent $200+, when we originally wanted to keep it below $100 this year if possible. I could provide plenty of recommendations for games, books, etc. but don't have time right now.
