lisabees
Let me rephrase: Can I assemble a day ahead? Or just the sauces? Bolognese is cooking. Just not sure what I can do ahead with a bechamel sauce. Thanks! Edited October 29, 2011 by lisabees
lisabees
I'm going for it ladies, unless someone tells me not to! :D
AK_Mom4
I would think so....I've done this with bechamel sauce intentionally when I wanted it to be thicker when I used it. Having a thicker sauce in a lasagne should not be a bad thing, IMO.
KatieJ
I can not think of a reason why not. I would not even cook the noodles ahead of time. Just assemble it and be sure it is plenty saucy. Bake it tomorrow and it should be wonderful.
Miss Marple
I made this a couple of weeks before using. I assembled the lasagna and froze it unbaked. Since I had never made this type before, I don't know how to compare it, but when I served it, it was very good...people went back for seconds :)
MaryCatherine
Only if you post a recipe.
LaxMom
I do it with polenta lasagne and have never had an issue.
gardenmom5
dh prefers to assemble and bake ahead and then reheat. It holds its shape better that way.
lisabees
Only if you post a recipe. I did it. I made two pans. Thanks for the reassurance! ;) As far as a recipe, hmmm... I kinda start with The Pioneer Woman's (Pastor Ryan actually) recipe for Bolognese sauce, except I use ground turkey and some sweet Italian turkey sausage. I also add a sprinkling of sugar, a clove and 2 bay leaves. This time I left the milk out. I cook this for two hours. Meanwhile, I made the Bechamel sauce. I basically use this recipe, except I half the salt and the nutmeg. If I were really good, I would make the pasta from scratch, but I got some from a local Italian Market. I assemble it, adding good parmesan reggiano on top of each bechamel layer. Voila. My version of lasagne. There are many ways to make bolognese. Do what sounds good for you!
