Cammie
This story is so strange my first thought was Halloween hoax! http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/44953925/ns/us_news-crime_and_courts/ Can you imagine - escaped giraffes and camels heading down the highway? Xuzi
A friend of mine lives near there, and her kids' school has already said it will be closed tomorrow "due to bears and cheetahs". Edited October 19, 2011 by Xuzi
ChristusG
Wow....that's horrible (that the owner is dead) and interesting at the same time. Could you imagine driving down the road and seeing a giraffe walk by?
newlifemom
It'd be a Jumanji experience for sure. Strange indeed. :001_huh:
BinahYeteirah
Perhaps I'm reading it incorrectly, but it seemed like they were implying the owner may have been attacked by animal rights activists. The article mentions another exotic animal owner whose bear killed its caretaker. Animal rights activists called for the bear's owner to be charged with homicide, the death was deemed a workplace accident, and the owner was later found dead in unusual circumstances. joannqn
Yeah, it seems odd that he was found dead and all of the cages were left open for them to get out. It's sad, though, that they are shooting them all rather than tranquilizing them and moving them. I've seen a giraffe from about 10 feet away. They are impressively tall up close! I guess I can understand the need to shoot the predators in a situation like this, but why in the world would they shoot the herbivores? I can't imagine a rogue camel is going to be much of a threat. mom2scouts
I'm in Ohio and you would be surprised how many exotic animal farms there are around here. It's very sad that they are shooting the animals.
