littlebug42
by forcing her to get a flu shot. This is the first year that we have ever done them but she has asthma that has been worse this year than ever. I did not want to risk it this winter. Dd9 was able to get the flu mist so she was fine. I hated doing it but had to. This parenting stuff is just plain hard sometimes.
Starr
Poor mama. You gotta do what you gotta do. No flu for asthmatic kiddos.
littlebug42
When this child was 4, she had to have blood drawn. It took 4 adults to hold her down all the while she was screaming, "You can't suck my blood".
BigMamaBird
Shots are wretched. Sorry you had to "be the bad guy." :grouphug: Just remind yourself come January when she's not barfing everywhere and can breathe normally that sometimes it's good to be the bad guy. DianeW88
I promise she'll fogive you. I can't tell you how many children I have traumatized with shots and they all continued to speak to me. Unless I have a needle in my hand, that is.
LidiyaDawn
Ours aren't available for another week or so, but I'll be near carrying dd14 through the doors. Girlie does NOT like needles. :tongue_smilie:
courtney.byrum
My daughter was one of the 'hold your breath and turn purple' kids. From the time she was in the NICU, for her RSV shots, and all shots through toddlerhood (even getting her blood drawn at 4). Imagine my surprise when at 5 she didn't even flinch when they gave her her shots, I was so expecting to have to hold her down! Thankfully the last few years we were able to get them the flu mist so I didn't have to worry about shots. So anyways - maybe there is hope she will eventually outgrow her dire hatred of shots. IsabelC
Sorry you had to be the bad cop to do what you felt was best for your child. I guess I'm really lucky - from the age of two we have always obtained their consent before any procedures were done, and none of them have declined to have needles. Something related to her asthma?
littlebug42
Something about the live virus in the flu mist makes it a no no for asthmatics. In Boo-Boo's defense, she has been seen by docs/subjected to many medical treatments since she was born for other things as well. She always handles all of that with such grace but needles are just not her thing. Her Dad also hates needles.
Bassoonaroo
Jab ==> Chick Fil A milkshake (complete with whipped cream and cherry) We're a bunch of wheezy asthmatics too, so there's a poke every fall.
