There are probably 8-10 books, revolving around the life of a little girl growing up in about the 1920's. The reading level and maturity level of the books increase as the age of the characters increase, so your daughter would probably only be old enough to read the first 4 or so, for now. James Harriots books All Creatures Great and Small All Things Bright and Beautiful All Things Wise and Wonderful The Lord God Made them All he also has some other animal stories.
