battlemaiden
They are doing fine, but I still feel they need to see the concepts in different formats. We do mental math in the middle grades sometimes, but I want more! :p Can I supplement with Singapore, or is it just too different? Thanks. Lori D.
That's what I've used for a supplement with my MUS math son. We would finish the MUS for the year, then do Singapore to fill out the rest of the year; usually it's review from a different point of view, so you can go pretty quickly through it. We generally finish a MUS level in about 28 weeks, leaving us 8 weeks to get through a year's worth of Singapore, which just about works out. Other good supplements for MUS Epsilon (as lots of kids get stuck on lesson 23 for awhile, and it's nice to have something else to go to for awhile, or to see math in a different way) include: - Keys to Fractions workbooks - manipulative: fraction circles or bars - plus lots of fractions helps/workbooks from Rainbow Resource (http://rainbowresource.com/search.php?sid=1201583891-1723758) Enjoy! Warmest regards, Lori D.
Hen
we are using MUS for the first time this year, and I was getting worried about them forgetting things they already know, and not knowing other things...so I picked up "Daily math practice" by Evan-moor -they are short, just a few problems everyday. I also liked Math skills by Harcourt press, those I use sparingly -just every once in a while.
happykids
Christian Light Math. It provides plenty of review and a variety of concepts to work with. ~Sabrina
Sophia
I supplement Delta with Horizons. I chose it specifically because it is so different.
Verena
We're doing the Singapore/MUS combo as well and are very satisfied with it. Oldest ds is currently doing MUS Gamma (our main program) and we do the CWP 2 alongside. We do one chapter in MUS (over a course of a few days of course), then do a few pages in CWP. 5wolfcubs
I'm doing what Verena is with my 2nd grader. He has: Gamma (daily) CWP 2 (2x a week) Mathematical Reasoning Through Verbal Analysis by Critical Thinking Press (2x a week) His favorite is CWP. :)
Mom2GirlsTX
We do the Singaprore/MUS combo and are enjoying it. We only added in MUS this year, but it is great. They are very different, and yet compliment each other well.
Sunshine State Sue
We started supplementing with CWP 4 after we completed Delta. I wish I had started earlier. This 1st year, we did the CWP in the summer. The 2nd year, I would do 4 weeks MUS, 1 week CWP. This year, he does 9 CWP a week along with 1 MUS lesson. They are easier in smaller doses. Good luck!
