Hoggirl
Nine was the hardest year for us. Ds had previously been (well, except for the "terrible twos" which, honestly, weren't that terrible) compliant and easy. He was a total booger bear at that age! One day the principal (dad) had to come home from work b/c he would not mind me at all and was standing on top of his desk in the school room!!! We had another incident at a Steak and Shake where he threw a horrible tantrum! My heart feels for you. They really must need to assert some independence at that age. Edited August 25, 2011 by Hoggirl Horrible usage errors! "Though a horrible tantrum"??? good grief!!!
LauraGB
Yes. Those were difficult times, my friend. I've chosen to forget them because I don't plan to do "9" ever again for the rest of my life. It's just that first major hormonal influx and they are just not equipped to deal well (unlike the girls :lol:).

danybug
We definitely went through a tough phase when ds was 9. At the time I thought it was circumstances or his personality, but once he turned 10 we could tell it was definitely the age when we looked back on all of it. We are almost done his 10th year and it has been better.
scrapbookbuzz
My daughter was testy at that age. I think it's just the age. Don't worry, you're not alone! This too shall pass, I promise!
MamaSheep
Nine was awful with ds! And dd has only been nine for a few weeks, but thus far it's no picnic with her either. Astoundingly, my son has grown into a kind, responsible, fun guy to have around, so I have hope for dd too.
