ktgrok
I just got a text from my 12 year old. He actually researched the advisable amount of sleep for kids his age, and is using that to argue that he should be allowed to stay up later/talk on the phone later. Why did I teach him how to do this?
theYoungerMrsWarde
 I have told my husband that when dc get to the logic stage we'd both better learn everything the kids learn or we'll be in trouble!
ashfern
 Sounds like something my son would do.

ktgrok
I sound like my parents, lol. I told him there is nothing that needs to be texted that late that can't be texted earlier. And that if she really likes him she will understand. (his phone turns off at 11pm automatically.....there is NO way I'm making it any later than that.) I'm hearing echos of my father..."nothing good happens after midnight!"
In The Great White North
I regretted teaching the dc to read a clock, for the same reason. I just got a text from my 12 year old. He actually researched the advisable amount of sleep for kids his age, and is using that to argue that he should be allowed to stay up later/talk on the phone later. I thought it was 8 - 12 hours? He gets more than 12 hours? I am impressed.

I am impressed. Everything I'm reading says 8-9 hours, which I think is pretty low for that age. He IS a natural night owl, like his father. But I think I'm being more than generous as it is. In The Great White North
My eldest was a serious night owl but he would sleep til 11 or 12 to make up for it. :glare:

The other day he was annoyed because I woke him up by vacuuming...at 9:30. Sorry kid, life happens.
Rosie_0801
Tell him to research dopamine production. He'll learn that he ought to be asleep by ten, :tongue_smilie: but it is permissible to get up early. :tongue_smilie::tongue_smilie: Rosie
