Don't teach your children research skills!

Recommended Posts

I just got a text from my 12 year old. He actually researched the advisable amount of sleep for kids his age, and is using that to argue that he should be allowed to stay up later/talk on the phone later.

Why did I teach him how to do this?

Tell him to get up early to talk on the phone. ;)

Better yet, get a jump on his school work.

I sound like my parents, lol. I told him there is nothing that needs to be texted that late that can't be texted earlier. And that if she really likes him she will understand. (his phone turns off at 11pm automatically.....there is NO way I'm making it any later than that.)

I'm hearing echos of my father..."nothing good happens after midnight!"

I regretted teaching the dc to read a clock, for the same reason.

I thought it was 8 - 12 hours? He gets more than 12 hours? I am impressed.

Everything I'm reading says 8-9 hours, which I think is pretty low for that age. He IS a natural night owl, like his father. But I think I'm being more than generous as it is.
