LucyStoner
 When our older son was learning to spell, every time he asked me to spell a word for the first time, I made him write it in his own dictionary binder and then when he asked about the same word again, I had him look it up. It seemed like for a year I was being asked how do you spell? How do you spell...? Over and over and over again. Then one day right when he had just started first grade, I noticed he was oddly silent when writing something and I looked over his shoulder and saw everything was spelled correctly on his own. It was not until that moment that all of the ceaseless questions seemed vaguely worth it. :001_smile:

ashfern
 My son says he doesn't need to do spelling this year because he knows all the words that he uses. Except he spells things wrong all the time.
