Mom-ninja.
I wish I had an unlimited budget to get any and all therapy and programs that my kids need. Just wanted to vent.

PeterPan
Well if it's any consolation, when I started all this KarenAnne gave me a real sage piece of advice: don't do more than two things at a time. You can't handle it, but, even more, your DC can't handle it. So like if you ride horses recreationally (with the side benefit of being therapeutic!) and you're doing VT or another therapy, you're done. Done. The brain can only assimilate so much at a time, and we can only follow through and implement fully at home with the homework and stuff so much. When we try to do too many things at once, we end up paying people big money to do stuff we could have done at home if we were home more and not traveling to all those therapy sessions. And in fact my hindsite is I wish I had pursued *monthly* therapy sessions more. Cuts the cost, increases the parental involvement, gets about the same results. There's a lot of what these people are doing that they could teach us, if they just would. But that wouldn't make them money. ;)

PeterPan
Jenn, I like your "chromosomally enhanced" sig. :) Now can I ask, it is correct that some kids with Downs will have apraxia? Not sure why I was thinking that. I saw the speech thing in your sig. And is the SLP in your user-name indicating that you are in fact an SLP? jenbrdsly
I wish I had an unlimited budget to get any and all therapy and programs that my kids need. Just wanted to vent. This made me think of when my SIL moved from our state to Idaho with my nephew who has Autism. Idaho had something called the "Katie Beckett Law". All of a sudden my nephew got 30 hours per week of ABA therapy for free! Apparently some families moved to Idaho just for the Katie Beckett law.
