PollyOR
In June his Dad gave him a moth which immediately laid dozens of eggs. DH has been taking time lapse photography of the eggs hatching, etc. I thought you all might enjoy it. Life Cycle of the One-eyed Sphinx Lots of leaf eating :). Just before the 4 minute mark it gets even more interesting. Edited July 24, 2011 by PollyOR

catholicmommy
Wow, that was amazing! Thanks for posting. This is probably a dumb question, but how did he set up the camera to take all the pictures? Was it a video camera or a normal picture camera? the kids really wanted to set something up to catch the moment our caterpillars crawled out of their cocoons this spring but we didn't know how to do it. This is DH. We used two setups. The close-ups were from an Intel USB QX3 microscope we got at a garage sale. The others were done using a webcam and some time lapse cature software (http://www.candylabs.com/videovelocity/). Another time-lapse method we've played with is with the camera of a smart phone. You just need to find an app (we used http://www.thirdwishsoftware.com/timelapse/ for the Palm Pre).
