Michelle @ Living Waters
I'm going to incorporate an audio book time for 2 of my boys this year, 1/2 hour a day and am looking for suggestions. Thanks!
campmom
My boys (6and 8yrs) love The Runt by Rick Boyer, I think his website is the learning parent. We also have several of the history ones they ask to listen to these all the time. If you are interested I can tell you the names of the ones we have. Julie Smith
Mine are a year older, and I find it really depends on mood, current interest... So what are they into right now? What have they listened to already? (As a audio book, or you reading aloud)
thescrappyhomeschooler
My boys, now 7 & 8 enjoyed the Beverly Cleary books and Little House on the Prairie books when they were 5 & 6 and onward.
stripe
My kids like the Red and Blue Fairy Books and My Father's Dragon, and we've listened to some of the Oz books as well from Librivox. They also enjoyed Rabbit Ears folk tales, on CD from the library. This list is sort of handy. http://wiki.librivox.org/index.php/Recordings_of_Books_on_the_Ambleside_List
rieshy
My 5 year old loves Hank The Cow Dog audio books.
cholderby
My son isn't a fan of fiction, but he has happily sat through a couple of Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books. We've done the rabbit ears folktales too.
Satori
:bigear: We are trying to listen to more audio books too. Yesterday we got Adventures of Huckleberry Finn narrated by Elijah Wood. I also just posted in the General Forums that I got a $100 Amazon discount through Audible.
Spryte
We listen to a lot of audiobooks. Audible is my friend! :) There are a ton of classics, just do a quick search. Sometimes I line them up with books listed on AO, or hunt for books discussed here. At that age, though, Jim Weiss books - even though they're not on Audible - were our big hit. Still are, actually. My 7 year old is, at this very moment, revisiting the Egyptian Treasures recording and setting up Egypt with his Playmobil people... The Nile is a blue sheet, and there are pyramids, barges, you name it... Fun! Oh, and the audiobook of Mary Pope Osborne's Odyssey. That's another good one.
