UmMusa
Hi, My DS10 would love to make a model solar system with foam balls and stuff. How do I go about doing this? Anyone BTDT to give me a quick answer? Are there kits, online instructions, and can he do it mostly on his own? Thanks.
Occasionally
We got a kit from Michael's that had styrofoam balls and skewer-like sticks. You paint the balls and use the sticks to connect the planets to the sun. It was a fun an easy activity for DS5. They also had a kit where the planets were already colored. Check a craft store. Otherwise, there are online instructions (I wanted the simplicity of the kit.)

LAS in LA
SOTW2 Activity Guide has instructions to make one which hangs from the ceiling. Not like a mobile, but with each planet attached separately to a piece of posterboard with the orbits drawn on. We're in the middle of this project (started last fall ).
