Cindyz
My son is asking specific questions about the birds and the bees. We've already covered the various body parts and how boys are different from girls. Now he's asking, "what kind of exercises did you and daddy do to make me?" This came about during a science lesson on how plants reproduce. Does anyone have some good book suggestions to gently cover his questions? Thanks! Chelli
My friend reccomended these to me. I haven't used them yet but she said they were wonderful. I think that Sonlight has them in their catalog, so obviously they are Christian based. The Story of Me by Stan and Brenna Jones (age 3 to 5) http://www.amazon.com/Story-Me-Gods-Design-Sex/dp/1600060137/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1305561760&sr=8-1 Before I was born by Carolyn Nystrom (ages 5 to 8) http://www.amazon.com/Before-Was-Born-Gods-Design/dp/1600060145/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1305561803&sr=1-

I have used the first 3-books (my oldest is nearly 11).
MerryAtHope
I also really liked The Wonderful Way Babies are Made. It has younger content in larger print and older content in smaller print--so you can go into as much detail as you want. At this age I just answered questions with short, matter-of-fact, direct answers to their questions. Merry :-)
TNLisa
:iagree: to all of the above. We actually have read all of them. You also could use an analogy from Corrie ten Boom's father. Once when she asked a question about that sort of thing, he replied by asking her to carry his suitcase. When she couldn't lift it because it was too heavy, he told her that it is how some information is...too heavy for her right now, but in time she'll be able to handle it. Momling
For that age, we like "It's not the stork" by Robie Harris. http://www.amazon.com/Its-Not-Stork-Families-Friends/dp/0763600474
Tracy
I really like the series, God's Design for S*x. The philosophy is that you have to tell your kids before they get misinformation from others. So they start very young, and this does trouble a lot of people. I have yet to read the book for 5-8yos with my dd6, but she has not asked questions, either. But I do agree with the philosophy.
