WTMCassandra
I'm starting our high school journey and writing course descriptions for next year. Do I need to go to the work of photocopying the TOCs from each text? Some people say yes, and others say no. What say ye who have walked this road before me? Kareni
Well, my daughter applied to ten colleges and none asked for the Table of Contents of the textbooks she used. But different colleges do have different requirements. (So, no help from me!) Regards, Kareni
creekland
We didn't need them, but middle son will be applying to a higher caliber of schools (with some of his picks), so... I'm not sure. I guess I'll find out.
WTMCassandra
Sigh. I am just trying to figure out if the probability is high enough to make the effort worth it. I will definitely be keeping all textbooks, so I suppose I could do it later, but I hate a scramble at the end.
OLG
We kept them all and filed them away by year but were never asked for any, at all!! My guess is that if you needed one, you could always find it online later!
distancia
None of my D's colleges did, and one of them is a very high caliber school. When I made the transcript I attached a second page listing each course, the texts used, and an "equivalence" code denoting the same course in the public school system. Example: my homeschool Honors Chemistry 101 equivalent to HCHEM1001 (state code).
WTMCassandra
That's cool that you were able to use an equivalence code.
In The Great White North
None of the colleges ds applied to requested TOC. I did include course descriptions for each class that included the text and topics covered (they actually hadn't asked for that either.) I was never asked for tables of contents. Brenda
WTMCassandra
Okay, I'm glad to hear all of these "No's." LOL. I'm definitely doing course descriptions, which include a materials section with bibliographic entry of the textbook with ISBN, so I think I'm going to leave it at that for now. flyingiguana
No one asked for this. The colleges we dealt with didn't even want course descriptions. I gave them a descriptive course title on the transcript and a list of the textbooks titles and authors we used. I suspect, though, that the transcript alone would have been enough. As many colleges have now dealt with homeschool applicants, they probably have some idea as to what they want, so you'll probably want to ask them when the time comes.
