Luanne
I would like to hear opinions about this book ... if anyone has read it ... and/or used it with their children. How did you like the book and what age(s) did you use it with?

Sew happily ever after
I like the idea of the book. I have not read it to my children yet. I find it hard for me to even read it to myself. I also don't like reading things off of my computer screen or my ipod. makes for too much eye strain!

Pata
I've read the whole thing and it's very interesting. The author does a good job of relaying scientific info within the context of a story. As for my dd, she hated it when I tried to read it to her in first grade, said it was boring, but when we used several passage for WWE3 style writing last week, she was clamoring for more :). frankcassiesmom
I found an old copy at Goodwill and it's been sitting there taunting me and yet we still haven't dove into it yet.

sbaloue
We are reading this now. We are on chapter 33 and it is going well. I read one chapter a day, and this takes about 5 minutes. The book covers a lot of topics such as weather, metals, insects, trees, etc. I find it is an easy way to cover science topics we would never have time to cover otherwise. Also, when an insect or animal is discussed, we look it up on youtube or google. The format of the book is an uncle in France telling stories to his 2 nephews and niece who are visiting. It is a sweet book that is very informative and easy to read.:001_smile:
