annlaura
As I was coming inside tonight, I happened to glance at the bird feeder in the hedges in front of the house. There was a mouse sitting on it, munching away. Very cute outside. Not cute inside. And we are currently without cat. Does seeing them outside mean they are/will be inside? I haven't seen any evidence, but the basement is full of hiding places. Guess I will do a thorough check tomorrow. I've promised DH to wait a while before getting a new cat or I'd go get one tomorrow and not worry further. ;)
Snickerdoodle
Not necessarily, but there is never just one of them.

Mommyof4ks
No, but the mice can attract snakes who eat them come spring and summer, if you happen to be in an area which snakes frequent. :iagree: We had mice in our detached garage, but there have not been any in our house. There are many snakes around here now thanks to these mice though.
1GirlTwinBoys
Bird feed will definitely attract them, so make sure it's sealed up tightly in containers and not just in bags.
Liz CA
No, we have always had a mouse family live in the wood shed but never have I seen evidence of mice in the house.
Anita in NC
We had a mouse in the house the other day. It ran across the floor in front of us as we all sat on the couch. Then made a great escape down the air vent when we tried to catch it. Luckily, I caught the little beast in a snap trap the next day. I hate mice in the house. annlaura
Well wouldn't that be exciting?! :ack2: No, but the mice can attract snakes who eat them come spring and summer, if you happen to be in an area which snakes frequent. annlaura
Luckily poisonous snakes are pretty rare around here, and I'd like to imagine we won't get any others. And no cliff either. Hopefully we won't need one. lol! Sounds like you live somewhere fun... It can be exciting if they're the poisonous type. We tend to kill those. The others we relocate (= sling them over the cliff in the back).
annlaura
The extra seed is in a tin, so hopefully ok. Should I quit filling the bird feeder for a while? Bird feed will definitely attract them, so make sure it's sealed up tightly in containers and not just in bags.
