BeckyFL
As the World Turns, will our stomachs? (dramatic music).... We made yogurt Sunday afternoon using the cooler method. It was done at 12:30 am and we put it in the fridge. Just now, my husband found one quart jar that got left in the cooler in the garage. We are in Florida. It's been cool most of the time (50's). The yogurt looks perfect and smells fine so the question is..... Would you eat it?
DarcyB
Me? nope. ...but then, again, I don't like yogurt :P But no, I probably wouldn't feed it to my kids, either.

meena
Hmm...if it looks, smells, and tastes okay, I would probably try it. According to this article from a Chemistry and Biology professor: "The lactic acid [in yogurt] lowers the pH, makes it tart, causes the milk protein to thicken and acts as a preservative since pathogenic bacteria cannot grow in acid conditions. Margo out of lurking
No, but I don't know enough about the specifics of homemade yogurt. The 50 degrees for two days does not sound good to me though.
