specialmama
I have to send my cousin $20. How do I ensure that she does not have any fees or penalties to pay? I'm tempted to send $22 just in case but that seems too random. There must be a way to figure it out, but I need some brain help. Thank you! Jean in Newcastle
It seems much easier to just send her a check since you know her and all. . .
specialmama
I know and I wish... but I need to get it there by tomorrow. I'd pay more than $30 to ship it next-day service. I'm in Alberta, Canada, she's in Detroit, MI. Waaaaah!!!
scrappyhappymama
You can make a personal payment on Paypal and there are NO fees. They are only supposed to be done between people who know each other, so it is not supposed to be used for payment of goods to someone you don't know. BUt it would be perfect for sending money to a family member. However, just to mention, if she is needing cash in hand tomorrow, Paypal won't work, unless she has a Paypal debit card. It takes several days to transfer a Paypal balance from her own account to her bank account to withdraw it. But it will be available for her to make a purchase immediately through Paypal, or to make a withdrawal with a Paypal debit card.
Lilymax
There's a category I check called "other" when I send money (I can't remember at the moment what tab it's under). No one pays a fee either way when you use that category. HTH.
scrappyhappymama
Oh, and for future reference, if you are sending money on Paypal to a stranger for goods purchased, and need to cover the fees, you can use this handy calculator: http://www.rolbe.com/paypal.htm
plain jane
If your PayPal account is linked to a credit card, I do believe there are fees on the receiving end- the PayPal website tells you what those fees are. It walks you through sending money- including a calculator that will tell you what the fees are before you proceed as well as giving you an option as to who pays those fees- either yourself or the receiver. There are no fees if your PayPal is linked to your bank account or if you are using your PayPal balance. Since you're in Canada there will likely be some sort of currency exchange that will have to be paid, but that will be something that you pay since you get to select what currency you send your funds in. HTH a bit.
